Patient Testimonials - LASIK and other Vision Correction Procedures

"It has been well over a year since my Lasik surgery. I can see everything perfectly without any help! When I wake up in the morning, my alarm clock, and even the clock on my cable box across the room, are both crystal clear. One of my favorite benefits of not having to wear contacts or glasses anymore is when I am lying in bed at night before going to sleep. I am notorious for falling asleep while watching television in bed, but thanks to my surgery, I no longer have to worry about bending or breaking my glasses; nor do I have to get up to take out my contacts after I have already fallen asleep. I am also able to go to the beach, pool, gym or wherever I choose and I never have to worry about contacts, solution, drops, a case or anything else. Having Lasik surgery has substantially contributed to the carefree lifestyle that I love to lead. I send my utmost gratitude and appreciation to Premier for the fantastic job they did!"

"Over the years my vision slowly deteriorated and in one day (really two days - one for each eye) Dr. Brent and his team at Premier Eye Care Group restored it. After the first lens was replaced, I was actually looking forward to the second surgery. The lenses restored my eyesight and my vision touched so many aspects of my life. I enjoy photography as a hobby and my vision is a key element. Now the only lenses I mess with are the camera’s. I was amazed with the results and the ease of the procedure. It’s made my life easier and less complicated. It’s a wonderful gift to give yourself!"

"I lead an active lifestyle. Whether it is flying a private plane, SCUBA diving, or playing tennis, all of my activities have benefitted from my recent lens replacement surgery. Because I opted for the multi-focal lens, I have also been liberated from my pesky reading glasses---which never seem to be where I am when I need them!

Dr. Barton is a consummate professional, and her staff is extremely efficient. My experience with the Premier Eye Group was excellent, and I highly recommend them to anyone considering eye surgery."

"The next morning, after my late day surgery, was my first opportunity to check out my vision, so I walked outside and looked out across a field to some woods about 250 yards away. I could not believe how clear my vision was; better than when I wore glasses or my contacts. It was an overwhelming experience. Looking back I wish I had done the surgery earlier."

"I am very thankful for the services that Premier Eye Care Group has provided me. Dr. Brent and the staff that performed my surgery [LASIK] were amazing! They were very thoughtful and gentle during the whole process.

Before having LASIK surgery, I had numerous eye infections. Due to the infections I was told not to wear contacts anymore. I was once tense behind the wheel, feeling like my peripheral vision was obstructed. Now when I drive, I'm humming a different tune, 'I can see clearly now the LASIK's done!' Thank you for everything, Premier Eye Care!"

"I had worn glasses for over 30 years. Before LASIK, I fumbled with glasses as soon as I woke up and when I got out of the shower. The lenses always seemed to have scratches on them. If I wanted to go for a motorcycle ride, I had to change into contacts. After awhile my eyes would get dry and burn with them in. It was then I decided I wanted to get laser correction. What a difference a day made!

I can see perfectly as soon as I open my eyes. Out of habit, I still find myself reaching for the glasses on the nightstand or bathroom vanity and laugh because they aren’t there. It is so nice to throw on my helmet and goggles, hop on the bike for a ride without the hassles of contacts.

Dr. Barton and the whole staff were extremely professional and thorough, answering any questions I had. The procedure was quick and painless and worth every penny and more.

I will see you out on the open road – and I mean I will clearly see you."

"My experience at Premier was short and sweet. It was just the way anyone would want any doctor's appointment to go. The procedures were very thorough and efficient. I always felt that my eyes and vision were in the hands of true specialists and caring individuals. The staff at Premier was extremely helpful in making me feel comfortable leading up to my LASIK procedure.

The way that Dr. Barton and her staff move precisely and efficiently through the procedure gives a patient the confidence that they have a lot of experience with the procedure. In no time, I was on my way home to heal and to see what tomorrow would bring. Morning came and it was such an euphoric feeling to see figures as they are and to have that kind of visual clarity. It is amazing going from dependence on glasses and contacts my entire life and then after one simple procedure, being able to see as free as humanly possible. As my recovery week went by, my vision continued to better itself and when I went in for my follow up appointment, I was able to read 2 letters on the 20/10 bracket. Amazing!

I can't express enough how LASIK has effected my everyday life. Before LASIK, I was dealing with expensive daily wear contacts, irritation and shifting, and glasses that continued to get scraped, banged, and scratched. My position as an Adventure Specialist at a local school allows me to be outside nearly every day teaching students activities such as rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and mountain biking. I work hard and also play hard. On my free time, I am out rock climbing, surfing, and whatever else sounds fun that day. Now I can be up on rock or out in the water and not have the risk of losing my vision due to the elements.

To Dr. Barton and to all of the staff at Premier, I thank you and I feel very fortunate to have had this experience. I hope that everyone who chooses to have the LASIK procedure has the kind of results and experience that I received."

"I was a borderline patient to have LASIK. After consulting with Dr. Barton, I chose PRK and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The best thing I like about the surgery is that I completely forget that I ever had vision problems. Having worn contacts to correct for distance and being a CPA, I still had to read most of the day and wore reading glasses over the contacts. Now my contacts and glasses are a distant memory.

Being apprehensive about the surgery, I had one eye corrected for distance and was able to leave the other eye uncorrected for reading, effectively having mono or blended vision as a result. But I still kept a spare contact for distance in my uncorrected eye, in case I needed it for playing sports, like golf. However, a year into playing golf with mono-vision I have not found the need to use the contact. I see everything normal and have no trouble following the ball even when it’s hit deep down the fairway or deep into the woods. In fact, I rarely realize I have mono-vision. PRK gave me 20/15 vision, so I can now see better than I ever had. Thank you Dr. Barton and the great staff at Premier Eye Care."

"The decision to pursue the Visian ICL surgery was an easy one for me. For most of my life, I have been involved in athletics. I have played virtually every sport imaginable, including football, basketball, baseball, golf, and hockey. However, I have always had to deal with poor vision. Prior to my surgery at the Premier Eye Care Group in Harrisburg, I struggled to read the "BIG E" on the vision chart. After nearly thirty years of dealing with my vision problem, I decided to commit to corrective eye surgery.

After doing careful research and through referrals from my friends, I contacted the Premier Eye Care Group for a consultation. From the first visit through the post surgery follow up, I was very pleased that I chose Premier. Dr. Barton performed a very painless surgery and within 24 hours, my sight was nearly perfect. After a few weeks, my vision became ever better. My sight now rivals those who claim they have 20/20 vision.

To have the opportunity to go from being virtually blind [without glasses] to having crystal clear vision, I do not know why anyone would hesitate having this surgery. I would recommend Dr. Barton and Premier Eye Care Group to anyone that wants to improve their lifestyle."

"I give the Premier Eye Group my highest recommendation. Dr. Jane Barton and her staff were absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t be more satisfied. Everyone was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable from my very first visit, to my post surgical checkups.

I am a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer with a manufacturing facility in the Harrisburg area. Whether I’m programming or trouble-shooting one of my robots on the plant floor, or doing load calculations or computer aided drafting back in my office, I rely on my eyes continuously. And my eyesight is crucial to my profession. The procedure I underwent was not a decision I made lightly. I’ve worn glasses most of my life, and to be finally free of them is a wonderful feeling. I recently bought my first pair of non-prescription sunglasses-- it was great.

I highly recommend Dr. Barton and her staff of professionals to anyone thinking about an eyesight corrective procedure. Given the opportunity to make the decision again, I would choose Premier Eye Group without hesitation. I only wish I had met Dr. Barton and her group twenty years sooner."

"Originally I went to Premier to be tested to find out if I was a candidate for LASIK. When Dr. Barton and her assistant sat down with me and gave me the awful news that I was not a LASIK candidate, I was devastated. I remember sitting there, trying to hold back my tears because all I wanted was to be freed from my contacts/glasses. Dr. Barton then explained to me about a procedure that was new to the US, but has been practiced in Europe and Canada for a few years. When Dr. Barton explained the procedure of Visian ICL, I was a bit nervous, but I continued to think of the outcome and how much better off I'd be.

Since having the surgery done in July 2006 I am able to enjoy things that before were somewhat annoying with contacts or glasses. I coach basketball and its great not having to worry about my contacts drying up while on the court. My fiancé and I have two dogs that I can enjoy being around more without my contacts itching my eyes.

Dr. Barton was very reassuring and I had full confidence in her and the staff at Premier Eye Care. Visian ICLs have made such a huge difference in my everyday life!!! I have a whole new view on life without glasses or contacts! Thanks Dr. Barton."

Judy Slagle

"I first came to Premier EyeCare Group to attend a LASIK seminar. The bad news is — I learned that LASIK was not a good procedure for me. The good news is that I learned about an option to have clear vision for distance and great vision to see the small numbers I focus on at work. I am a Mortgage Loan Officer and need to be able to tell the difference between a 3 and an 8.

Dr. Barton told me about a multi-focal lens implant and performed the surgery that has worked out perfect for me. I can now see the beautiful hillsides and read the newspaper without needing any glasses. My vision is better now than I ever expected."

"I travel a lot with my family and contacts and glasses became a hassle especially going to the beach, waterparks, and amusement parks. My eyes always felt dry. I didn’t like driving at night due to glare.

Thanks to Dr. Barton and Premier Eye Care Group for offering the latest in laser technology. I’ve waited ten years to have freedom from glasses and contacts. The All-Laser-LASIK procedure I received has not only corrected my vision and dry eye, but has eliminated night glare. My first vacation with no contacts or glasses was the best ever."

"Since I had my eye surgery (Visian ICLs), I've been able to enjoy the outdoors without the hassle of contacts. I'm no longer burden with contact lenses and solutions when I'm camping. I don't think twice about swimming underneath the water now, or any other outdoor activities that were a concern with contact lenses in the past.

The day of my surgery everything went really smoothly, just as Dr. Barton explained. The staff treated me with genuine concern. It's freedom 24/7."

"Baseball is my sport! I was proud to be named Franklin and Marshall College’s 2003 Most Valuable Player and leading hitter. I attribute a great deal of my success on the baseball field to the excellent results I got from having LASIK with Dr. Barton. Before LASIK, I often found myself having to clean, adjust, or even replace my contacts during the course of the game in order to clearly see the ball. Wearing glasses was even worse. After the procedure those problems disappeared, and I had no problems seeing the ball. In fact, the ball was clearer to see than it had ever been. I enjoy all sports and have found that LASIK has improved my vision everywhere from the golf course to the ski slopes.

I realize that since having Dr. Barton perform the procedure, that LASIK surgery was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The resulting clarity in my vision has made a world of difference in my everyday activities. I no longer have to worry about falling asleep with my contacts in my eyes, or reaching for my glasses to check the time in the middle of the night. Instead, I now take a quick glance at the clock to find the time. I am extremely happy with the results from my surgery, and my thanks go to Dr. Barton for doing an excellent job with the procedure."

"After many years of wearing glasses and contacts, I felt that LASIK was the answer. Unfortunately Dr. Barton told me that I was not a candidate for LASIK surgery, that ICL surgery would be a better choice for me.

Choosing to have ICL surgery with Dr. Barton was one of the best decisions I've ever made. She walked me through the entire procedures as she was doing the ICL surgery which made me feel like I had nothing to worry about. I was impressed with Dr. Barton's entire process. I could not be happier with my results.

Now I can enjoy watching my husband race on a weekly basis at the sprint car dirt tracks without worrying about getting dirt on my contacts."

"I was 6 years old when I started wearing glasses. At the age of 12, I started to wear contacts. It wasn't until I started to work as a flight nurse, that having glasses and contacts became more of a burden. My contacts would dry out and become uncomfortable and my glasses would fall off while removing my helmet. That is when I made a decision to have ICL.

I was able to see immediately after surgery and today my vision is 20/15. My vision had NEVER been 20/15. Now I can wake up and see the clock. I can remove my flight helmet without the fear of losing my glasses in a corn field. AND I don't have the hassle of the daily contact routine to deal with anymore.

Having a life free of glasses and contacts is very liberating."

"Having LASIK was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Dr. Brent and the entire staff at Premier Eye Care Group were outstanding. They made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire process. Thank you to Premier Eye Care Group for the gift of sight without the hassle of eye wear."

"It was time for a change...it had been long enough...I knew it was time.

I have worn contacts as long as I could remember and did not wear them well. My contacts were always dry and blurry. I had to rewet them all the time so I decided to look into getting my vision corrected and was not a candidate for LASIK. I called Premier Eye Care Group and scheduled a consultation and was told about ICL surgery. My husband and I discussed our options and decided this was a great idea for me. I went through all the testing and exams and had the surgeries last summer and I have to say that I am loving life. I am able to see so well and everyone at Premier Eye Care was great. It was such a wonderful experience. I will recommend Premier to everyone."

"Before my surgery I had a -9.5 in the right eye and -9.0 in my left eye. Now, thanks to Premier Eye Care and especially Dr. Brent, I do not wear glasses or contacts. I don't need reading glasses either, except for very fine print, such as phone books, etc.

The quality of my life I now enjoy with my family is incredible. Water sports, hunting and fishing are much easier for me. This has also made a tremendous difference in my position as a Correctional Officer.

It would take me 20 pages to tell you how my life has changed thanks to Dr. Brent and his surgical staff, Gaylene, Joan and Ann. Also, the Cedar Cliff office was fantastic too. I would do this surgery again at the drop of a hat."

"I started wearing glasses when I was very young, then switched to contact lenses, which was even more of a hassle with solutions and cases. Since I got LASIK at Premier Eye Care Group I don't have to worry about anything. This has improved my life in so many ways, from driving with the top down without drying contacts to being able to see when I get in the ocean or the pool.

The surgery was so easy. It took seconds and was painless. The next day I woke up, looked around and was amazed I didn't need any correction. You really can't appreciate it unless you have the luxury of being able to see clearly without dealing with contacts or glasses. Thanks Dr. Barton."

Thomas Connolly

"I have had glasses since the third grade. Contacts since the 11th grade. I could not even read the big 'E' on top of the eye cart when I was in my 20's. I was never able to read the alarm clock at night. When I camped under the stars, I could forget about seeing the stars in the middle of the night, unless of course I could FIND my glasses. When I got out of the pool or ocean, I had to squint really hard to find where I was, unless I had my contacts in, then I either lost one, or my eyes would burn and stay read. When I would play sports, my contacts would get blurry and I could not handle wearing glasses. These, among others, were inconveniences that I thought I would have to deal with the rest of my life.

So, when I first became aware of eye surgery procedures, I was interested. Then LASIK became available, and I found Premier Eye Care Group and Dr. Brent. I researched other procedures, other doctors, different offices special discounts, and even other countries. I attended a few of Premier's seminars as previews of the procedure. There I met Dr. Brent and staff. And I knew that I found the right place. They all made me feel VERY comfortable. They put me at east before, during, and after the procedure.

Now I see 20/20. With nothing else needed. I see the 'E's' at the bottom of the chart. I can ski and not have my contacts or glasses get blurry and foggy. I give Dr. Brent a HUGE thank you every time I see him and his staff. They are miracle workers!!!"

"For as long as I can remember I've always had to wear glasses or contact lenses. Every where I went and everything I did was never as exciting, fun or as free as it should have been. It was a real inconvenience having to have a contact case and solution nearby just in case a contact fell out or I spent the night away from home. I always had to keep in mind these little constraints so I could see the next day - that was until I heard about ICL surgery.

This magnificent procedure has truly changed my life for the better. I love being outside whether it's playing sports, swimming, hanging with friends, hiking or hunting. ICLs allow me to truly enjoy all of these things! But by far the most exciting part of it is the simple pleasure of being able to wake up each and every morning, look across the room and read the clock. The Visian ICL is an amazing procedure that gives you back your freedom of sight and allows you to do all the things you love. I appreciate everyone at Premier Eye Care for everything you have done for me and thank you for the excellent job you're doing."

"The LASIK surgery enhances my abilities so I can enjoy all the winter sports.

It's unbelievable that I wore corrective lenses for 30 years and was considered legally blind (without glasses) and then within two hours after the procedure I was seeing clearly.

The best part is the surgery is totally painless. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I'm so glad I finally decided to do it!"

"I recently had Visian ICL implants done in each eye. I was planning on getting LASIK but after the thorough evaluation, Dr. Brent informed me that LASIK would not be the wisest choice for me and suggested the Visian ICL as an alternative. The staff was professional and actually made this an enjoyable experience.

It has truly been amazing to wake up and be able to see. I have worn glasses for 33 years. I tried contacts as a teenager, but had one eye infection after the other, so I had to give them up. I enjoy jogging and not having to wear glasses is wonderful. I have four daughters and they are so excited because this will be the first year I will be able to swim with them. I have always had to wear my glasses in the pool because I couldn't see anything around me without them. We will finally be able to swim together as a family."

"I've always had trouble with my glasses fogging or icing up while riding snowmobile. At times it could be dangerous. I had to stop and clean my lenses, wait until they cleared or take my glasses off.

Since I had LASIK surgery at Premier Eye Care, I can ride all day long without that problem and I'm also able to see the bumps and dips in the trails much better for a more enjoyable ride."

"Thanks to the entire staff at Premier for our experience with LASIK eye correction surgery. From our initial consultation with Joan to all the follow-up contacts with Dr. Barton, the information and communication about the technology reassured us we were in good hands. The staff was friendly, competent, and shared in the excitement we both felt.

Leading busy, active lives LASIK allows us to pursue our interest with new excitement. We can now workout, golf on a hot summer day, mow the grass, come in out of the cold, etc., without the inconvenience of glasses. Even taking a trip has become easier because there is no need to pack contact solution and an extra pair of prescription sunglasses.

As we both continue to age in an era of technological wonders, our experience with Premier and LASIK certainly has given us the confidence to embrace new medical procedures. Now, if LASIK could only lower our golf score - things would be perfect!"

"I started wearing glasses when I was 11 years old, then switched to contact lenses at age 14, after 16 years my eyes started to reject contacts. Wearing glasses again at age 30 made me feel disconnected and I could not see as well. Premier Eye Care changed all of that for me.

I used to be afraid to drive at night because I could not see the road signs. Since the ICL surgery I have the confidence to drive anywhere. I now have better that 20/20 vision and am looking forward to the many road trips I have planned for work. Thank you so much for giving me my sight back! The quality of care at Premier is unbelievable!"

"I have always enjoyed the outdoors - sports, hiking, boating and such, but with corrective eyewear I was missing so much. Now with my LASIK eye surgery by Dr. Barton and her staff, I am getting total enjoyment with my boat, jet ski and other outdoor activities.

You should see what you are missing, then you won't be missing anything."

Richard S. Novack

"I spent about a year researching… LASIK and other procedures. LASIK stood out from the rest.

At my initial consultation, monovision was discussed and it was agreed that I would wear one contact in my dominant eye to see if monovision would work for me. After several days I … set a date for the surgery.

LASIK … was one of the best decisions I made in the last 15 years. I would recommend Premier Eye Care Group to anyone thinking about LASIK. Thank you Dr. Brent and Premier Eye Care Group."

"Freedom is priceless! Being able to see when I get up in the morning and not have to struggle to find my glasses is a wonderful feeling! Every minute counts in this busy world, no more getting up ahead of time to put my contact lenses on and struggle to get to work on time. After my LASIK surgery, I just get up in the morning, quickly get ready and out the door – no worry.

Now I can enjoy swimming, amusement park rides and running around with my kids with comfort and ease. No more worry of broken glasses, running out of contact lens solutions and torn contact lenses. All this is made possible to me by Premier Eye Care Group. Thank you!"

"One year ago, I was turning forty and my husband surprised me with the best gift he could have ever given me. He scheduled me to have LASIK, as my special present. As a wife, mother and practicing dental hygienist, my sight is extremely important to me. Having LASIK (refractive eye surgery) improved my life dramatically!

My children no longer have to wait till Mommy gets her glasses to see what they want to show me or for me to see their smiling faces clearly. I am able to get right out of bed each morning and see everything! I swam underwater, with my eyes wide open, for the first time this summer. I haven't done that since childhood. I no longer have to clear my contacts or adjust my glasses to see what I’m doing. I feel my improved vision enables me to treat my patients better. Having this surgery has allowed me to enjoy my life even more! I thank Premier Eye Care, their exceptional staff and especially Dr. Geoffrey Brent, for your professionalism and for treating me so well! I love seeing your smiles!!"

Diane Bamford

"I wanted my vision corrected ever since I had heard about it for the first time. But I finally got my nerve up 5 years ago to go to a specialist and see if I was a candidate for Lasik surgery. I was sadly disappointed when they told me that they could only correct my far vision and that I would probably need reading glasses. The reason is because I have astigmatism in both eyes. Since I had saved the money and I was happy that at least I would not have to wear glasses all my waking hours I was going to have it done. But unfortunately from the time of my consult to the time of my surgery an unexpected house repair needed done and all my money was gone. So I waited another 5 years until I could save the money once again. So in June of this year I went for another consult with a different doctor and she told me she correct both my far and near vision. I was ecstatic; I couldn't believe that I was going to have 20/20 vision without glasses. So all my waiting was worth it.

I did have to have 3 surgeries in all: First I had the flap surgery with the laser. Second I had the Refractive Lenses Surgery (RLE) which is just like cataract surgery. Then the final surgery was the astigmatism correction with the laser. All surgeries and recovery time were pain free. The only adjustment that was a little difficult was the period between the RLE and the astigmatism surgery. For that 30 day period my brain had to recognize that the correction was done. I had to wear glasses to help with my astigmatism since I had to wait until the final surgery could be completed. I had good far vision and good reading vision but the in between vision (computer) was not great. Each week it got better and by the fourth week I was ready for the final step. The following day after my surgery I could see 20/20 in one eye and 20/25 in the other. Exactly a week later my vision is 20/20 and it seems to be getting better.

I am very happy with my decision to have the surgeries done and I would do it again!"

"I am a music therapist and I work with very young children (ages 0-3). I am thrilled that I can get very close to them and not have to worry about them touching or pulling my glasses. Also, I do a lot of driving for my job, and I love being able to just pull out my sunglasses and not having to deal with prescription sunglasses or a sun clip.

I thought Dr. Brent and his staff were very professional, yet personable at the same time. They made me comfortable throughout the whole process, from the first meeting to the follow-up visits. I especially appreciated the nurses in the preparation/recovery room on the day of the surgery. They were so kind and relaxed and made sure I was calm before the procedure."

"I have worn glasses or contacts since I was in the second grade; so when my father suggested looking into corrective eye surgery I thought, well, it might be nice to actually see the clock when I wake up in the morning. But, I didn't give it much thought; contacts were just part of my daily routine. I hadn't realized how much they influenced my day to day life.

Since my ICL surgery I am able to enjoy a walk outside without my eyes watering when the wind blows, drive with my window down and not have to pull over because the something has blown in my eye and put my eye make up on without knocking my lens off my eye. The nicest part for me is being able to attend an exercise class, stand anywhere in the room and be able to see exactly what the instructor is doing.

I wish that I had the surgery sooner than I did. If you live your entire life with less than perfect vision you can appreciate the joy of simply opening your eyes and taking in your surroundings unencumbered by glasses or contacts."
