The Visian ICL is designed as a flexible, foldable lens. Therefore the procedure allows for a tiny incision through which the surgeon slips the lens (50% smaller than competing technology.) An ICL is placed behind one’s iris and is not noticeable, nor can a patient feel it in her eye. A patient experiences improved vision within hours, but uses eye drops for approximately a week while her eyes continues to heal. Over 125,000 Visian ICLs have been implanted worldwide.

The national media coverage of the Visian ICL continues! On Friday, November 14, the Visian ICL was given a major segment on the hit television show "The Doctors," during which a patient – who was borderline legally blind – received the procedure with fantastic results. During the segment the patient's surgeon, Dr. Paul Dougherty, aptly describes the benefits of the Visian ICL as providing "high definition vision" with "fewer side effects" than LASIK. "I recently had Visian ICL implants done in each eye. I was planning on getting LASIK but after the thorough evaluation, Dr. Brent informed me that LASIK would not be the wisest choice for me and suggested the Visian ICL as an alternative. The staff was professional and actually made this an enjoyable experience. It has truly been amazing to wake up and be able to see. I have worn glasses for 33 years. I tried contacts as a teenager, but had one eye infection after the other, so I had to give them up. I enjoy jogging and not having to wear glasses is wonderful.
